If you class 50-60 people on the second day 'dead' , considering this server averages around 150 per day , then you're mistaken. Bare in mind you're the same person who plays skyblock which fails to even get 5 players a day on average and 30 players on release.
HCF is still PvP, but the server is on till this far because of Practice. HCF, Skyblock and Factions die quickly. It's just a one day trend.
i'd say a HCF dies after a week , this is majorly due to no koths/conquests being hosted , which results in a failure to retain players. HCF looks like it dies especially on cold as on sotw , a significant amount of players is reached which in comparison to a day or two's time is a lot lower , but the drop in player count shouldn't be seen as 'dying' as 40-60' is not bad for 2 days to 1 weeks player count.
