Will it ever be planned to make the staff applications public again? ( With stricter commenting rules )
Well, I assumed the reason it was closed is due to the amount of negativity and off-topic comments in the thread. Our feedback can help show that the applicant should be denied/accepted. Especially when the staff can't seem to notice something about the applicant and a member points it out. Very helpful when finding a plagiariser. If only the commenting rules for staff applications were a lot more strict then I would want applications to be public. If the rules were like before, it would be complete horrifying comments lmao.
I think they should stay private, but become public to see how well the community will respond to applications. ( Probably will close in the first 20 minutes )
This is already being discussed with staff, but only regarding accepted and denied applications. Like my friends above just said, it is highly unlikely that the public can view and reply to current applications.
There are many reasons and two of them are that a lot of arguments happen and people tend to go off topic on applications. So, the best thing we could do to stop it was to just make them Unpublic so only staff members can see and write reviews on it.
The problem is that they fill (just like with punishment appeals) with useless spam like +1 and -1 which we don't really take into consideration.
Like I said, if the rules were more strict and the applications were enforced better, rhen I wouldn't mind actual feedback.
Im mostly neutral on the side of replying to applications as it was before, but if you can reply i think people would be biased and there could be +1 from alts. But the idea of Zphere for viewing Accepted and Denied applications is actually very well done. I agree with him that the community who would like to be staff should have a look at those examples.
The staff applications have always been biased in my honest opinion. No one really plans on being not biased. The +1 alts are an easy thing to figure out, as long as they have messages before the account was created and not created on the same day then alting won't help. Zphere does have a good idea in mind though, people need a positive and negative example to base their application on.
I have to agree with @pmq13 No one gives a shit about the communities thoughts, even though they would be really good, like a really negative and harmful player applies, which staff don't know about, but players do, so that can really shake up the community and the staff team itself.
