Before I begin, I'm apologizing for the grammar mistakes in the read, I'm really sleepy and I cba to go through it. Enjoy. INTRO Greetings fellow community members and welcome to this new thread. As I assume most of you know, my name is Jacob and I've been a part of this community for around ten to eleven months. Ever since I started playing, the server has received a lot of growth, but over the past few months, that has changed. I'm not saying that the server is losing players at an alarming rate, but there is simply a lack of growth. I have decided to make this thread to address some issues with the network and give my opinion. Hopefully, I will give some solutions to some of these problems which are realistic, but for some, it's just hard to determine how hard it will be to do so. Let me begin with an issue that I've is quite a controversial topic on the server. THE STAFF TEAM As a lot of you know, the staff team isn't the greatest, and neither is the size of it. I will go in depth later on, but let me put it in order. First, we have the staff application format. The format isn't that hard to answer, the two main questions are ''Why do you want staff'' and ''Why should we accept you''. Sure, these two questions are crucial, but there should be a lot more. Let me give you a few examples, ''In what way could you improve the server?'', ''What skills do you have which other applicants don't?'' and ''How do you want to develop as a staff member?''. These questions actually require some creativity in them, as the two main questions that Cold currently has, are basically the same answer but written in a different way. Some of the current questions are also quite odd, the ''What are your skills?'' for example. The question is the same as ''Why should we accept you'', so I think that they should be merged and new questions should be added (Also, please stop adding commands to the ''What are your skills'' section, it really isn't needed.) I also think that the question ''Previous Server Staff Experience?:'' should be changed just a little bit. Instead of asking what their previous experience is, you should ask them what they've learned from the time they've been staff there. It's really not a hard question and should be answered quite easily, but it's really needed. The question ''Who or what inspired you to become staff?:'' is really unnecessary, it doesn't add anything to the application and it could've simply been a part of the ''Why do you want staff'' question. Now, let's from the format of the application to the actual process of consideration. From what I've noticed, is that the applications are being checked once every month or two. I don't think that the waiting time should be that long to receive an answer to your staff application, a week or two is enough. I also don't agree with Nick accepting the staff members, there should be a staff manager that should take care of this stuff, one that is experienced with such things. Don't get me wrong, Nick was an amazing staff member on Pika and I know that he still is, but he should focus more on other things. The staff team could be easily managed by a manager or two, especially ones that know who to accept and who not. Rated could be one of those people, but sadly he's quite inactive and he doesn't really deserve the manager position. Current staff team and the way I view it. The staff team is way too corrupt, the favoritism is just awful and some staff members are just plain awful. Most of the staff members have trouble speaking English and yet they've been accepted. I'm not going to pick out staff members, but I think it's pretty obvious who I mean with this. From what I've heard, a lot of staff members aren't doing their job properly, they prefer sitting in TeamSpeak3 almost all day and talk with their friends instead of doing their job. I'm not saying that they aren't allowed to talk to their friends or something, but from what I've seen in their staff applications, most of them have written that they will be able to help the server from 3-8 hours EVERY SINGLE DAY, and yet most of them aren't even online for 2 hours. Since July, getting staff has been a lot easier, and that's noticeable. A lot of people who should've never even been considered have received the rank, this is saddening. There are a few fantastic staff members, ByeTon and Baum for example. These two have the qualities that all staff members should have, but sadly, I can't say the same for 90% of the staff team. The way some staff members behave, isn't really what I expect from one that has that position. Some staff members get tilted easily when insulted or called a bad staff member. Let me put this in a different scenario. Let's say, the network is a hotel, Nick is the owner of the hotel, the staff members are the security, the members are the residents and the hackers/rule breakers are the criminals/thieves. It's the security's job to take care of the thieves and run through anything that goes in their way. The security should be thick-skinned and they should have only one goal in mind, to take care of the criminals. It doesn't matter what others have to say about it, as long they know that they are doing good to keep the hotel safe, then they are doing good. The way staff members are promoted is also quite weird, it's just stupid to promote all helpers, mods and such all at the same time. Staff members should be promoted for their individual skills and their accomplishments, not because they had that certain rank for a long time. Okay, I'm, done with the staff team part, for now, let's get moving. TOXICITY Toxicity, something that is known in every community and for a good reason. Cold has a lot of toxic members, myself included. Staff should actually do something about this, like warning or banning. ever since September, I have been incredibly toxic and I've only received 2 warnings so far, no bans for toxicity, just 2 warnings. Everybody that knows me that I am easily one of the most toxic people on the network, if not the most, so why am I not being threatened with a ban if I continue to do so? I should've been banned back in October or even September, and yet I am still here. This is partially the staff team's fault, they should punish for these things instead of watch how it's going to end up. I've called many staff members shit, insulted various members, attacked various members and said things for which I should've been banned immediately, so why am I still here? I've seen a lot of staff members complain about toxicity, yet they are not helping taking care of this. If you let people be toxic, they will stay toxic, if you punish them for it, they will eventually manage to control their toxicity. What many people don't understand, is that this toxicity scares a lot of new members away, that should simply not happen. The staff has to take care of the community, Not Nick, the staff. I am mostly blaming Rated for this, as he is the manager and he should tell the staff what to do and when to. I'm going, to be honest with you, if I would've been banned for inappropriate behavior, I wouldn't even be surprised, because it would've been a valid ban. BAN EVASION Oh man, oh man, I am so excited to talk about this. Seriously, why is it so ban evade so easily? So many people are ban evading and it's so obvious, yet nothing is being done about it. Right now, I could name 4 banned/blacklisted members that are ban evading, and a lot of staff members know that they are ban evading, but they still don't ban them. This isn't necessarily favoritism, but stupidity. These staff members are not doing their damn job for which they applied for. Tell me, why are these people applying for staff even though they aren't doing their job? It's the fault of the ban evading players, they are the same as the hackers and toxic people. The staff team is easily capable of banning the people that are ban evading on the same day they make the account because it's so obvious that it's them and yet I don't see that happening. I'm being serious right now, ban evading is so simple, especially on the forums. I am not going to talk about the server itself, as I think that Nick is doing a pretty damn good job maintaining it (except for a few game modes).
